Racial & Ethnic Disparity Committee Published on June 08, 2023 The Hartford Racial and Ethnic Disparity Committee is designed to engage state, municipal and community actors working with youth in the juvenile justice system to track the disproportionate involvement of youth of color in that system and to identify areas for tracking, advocacy and reform.
Office of the Inspector General Published on March 06, 2024 The Inspector General (IG) is the city official overseeing investigations into allegations of police misconduct. The Inspector General investigates misconduct allegations that stem from citizen complaints, as well as investigations that the CPRB has initiated on its own. On behalf of the CPRB, the IG may make policy recommendations to the Mayor's Office and Court of Common Council.
Superior Court Rules In Hartford’s Favor, Officer’s Firing Upheld Published on August 07, 2020 Yesterday a Connecticut Superior Court upheld the City of Hartford’s decision to fire former police officer Robert Lanza. Mr. Lanza was fired in 2018 after an incident where he used racial slurs while he was being arrested for drunken driving off duty. In May 2019, an arbitrator ruled that Mr. Lanza should be reinstated, and the City appealed that decision.
MAYOR APPLAUDS COMMITTEE FAVORABLE VOTE OF SERIOUS FIREARM OFFENSE Published on March 28, 2023 Today, Mayor Luke Bronin of Hartford applauded the favorable vote by the General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee on HB 6667, which included legislative recommendations proposed by a Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) taskforce focused on reducing gun violence by repeat offenders. The recommendations were incorporated into HB 6667, the governor’s bill on reducing gun violence.

CPA, CITY OF HARTFORD CUT RIBBON ON EXPANDED REENTRY WELCOME CENTER Published on July 15, 2022 Today, Mayor Luke Bronin and Community Partners in Action (CPA) joined U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, advocates, partners, participants, and state and local leaders to cut the ribbon on the expanded, improved Reentry Welcome Center (RWC) in Hartford at its new location at 716 Windsor Street. CPA is a statewide organization that provides support services for those who have recently been incarcerated.
